The best-known project-based fellowship in the country. You design your own two-year public interest project with a host legal services organization, and the Foundation funds your salary and benefits.
Equal Justice Works
Design Your Own Fellowship pairs you with a host organization and a corporate or foundation sponsor. Equal Justice Works also runs cohort programs in disaster resilience, veterans' rights, and rural justice.
Immigrant Justice Corps
You apply to the program rather than designing a project. Fellows are placed with host organizations and receive intensive training and mentorship.
Justice Catalyst
Backs new lawyers pursuing creative legal strategies, including impact litigation and cross-sector partnerships that traditional funders may not support.
Borchard Foundation Center on Law & Aging
A focused one-year fellowship for new lawyers building projects that serve older adults. Smaller applicant pool than the national project fellowships, with a strong alumni network in California.
California ChangeLawyers
A California-specific fellowship from ChangeLawyers, the statewide foundation focused on diversifying the legal profession. Funds new lawyers at California nonprofits and legal services organizations, including roles that start before bar results.
